CHAPTER NINETEEN
Ronan
TEMPT MY TROUBLE
Performed by Bishop Briggs
Ronanâs entire body was vibrating with anger. The gall of Carter to show up in her room and then take off again as if it was nothing. As if it was his damn right to slip in and out and make demands. Adria was tense, standing almost rigid while her team swarmed the room. Moments ago, sheâd been soft and pliable in his hands, ready to give in, ready to find their way back to each other, even if it was for only a few hours.
He was furious Carter had taken that from them.
Holden took off to the park to search for him with the Secret Service and FBI, but Ronan knew the man wouldnât be found. He was a ghost. Or a demon. Who knew for sure? Each of the Daisies called Adria to check in. Theyâd been kept to their rooms with their security on high alert, and it felt like one more round of fucking chaos had been added to days filled with them. He hated the out-of-control feeling he had. It made him think too much of being bound in a bathtub.
Instead of having Adria stay there, he helped her pack her things, and they went to his room, followed by Lennox still in sweats with no shoes and a half-dozen bodyguards. Lennox personally cleared Ronanâs room, which had no balcony and a window that didnât open. There was no way in except the door.
By the time he and Adria were alone, the heat of their savage kiss in her room had been shoved back behind his anger at Carter, her team, and the entire situation. She changed into another pair of barely-there pajamas, and tonight, he didnât even bother with the couch. Instead, he stripped down to his boxers, slid under the covers, and held them up for her. She eyed it for a few seconds and then joined him, head coming to rest on his bare chest.
He was overwhelmed with memories he had of her like this. Fleeting moments theyâd captured over the years that had never been long enough or frequent enough to satisfy his endless need for her. Theyâd wasted so much time. Days. Hours. Minutes where he could have had her like this with her dark hair splayed across him, muscled torso draped over him, arms surrounding each other.
âIâm scared,â she said quietly, body shuddering.
He was too, but he didnât want to say it.
The heat and scent of her swamped him with a heady dose of desire. Need so great he wasnât sure heâd ever find a way to satisfy it. Not even if they spent infinity wrapped in each other. She placed a kiss on his shoulder. Open-mouthed, wet. Hot and hungry, just like him.
He debated. Heâd wanted this not even an hour before. When theyâd stepped into her room and consumed each other with that heated kiss, heâd been completely on board with them finding their way back to each other. But now, he knew if they did this tonight, it wouldnât be about them.
